Angularity of the Unconscious
Form and Space
2017
Could greater comprehension of the unconscious mind focus humanity to better pursue both the effects of mental health and global destruction? Global warming becoming prevalent in world news, has constructed society to conform to a belief system that distracts from factual evidence of scientific knowledge. Melting ice caps are visual representation of destruction to the earth, and the impact mankind doubtlessly controls. An iceberg, a symbol representative of ignorance, can also provide knowledge of the conscious and unconscious mind relative to Sigmund Fraud beliefs. The vast unknown remaining under the water, represents the lack. of cognition humans have to the unconscious, as well as the ignorance humanity has to environmental issues. With prior research of psychological effects and damage of society, as well as understanding of. modern global issues, my concern to both areas relates to the depths of my reasoning.
Snakesk (in and out)
For and Space
2017
The use of animal products for clothes is a hot topic issue, but I wasn’t sure where I stood when it came to snakes. On one hand Python farms are being opened to provide snakeskin for the fashion industry by 2019, but at the same time Florida is facing a python population problem. The introduction of Pythons in Florida has led to problems within the environment and has even required the state to hire snake charmers to hunt, in an attempt to fix this problem. I came to the conclusion that I was interested in the idea of priorities within our society. The needs of the upper class (outside) vs. the needs of others (inside).
Seeds
Form and Space

Why does our only source of food have to kill us and itself? The seeds that bear life for our nutritional needs and others are being manipulated; being sprayed with pesticides that are slowly killing us and it’s surroundings. This topic concerns me because what the earth gave us to live off of is being exploited and used. Pesticides are slowly killing us and the earth; their run off is poisoning our water and in turn, the entire earth. Big companies like Monsanto are hurting us and plants. Farmers agree, something has to be done about the state of agriculture.
Destabilization in Nature
Form and Space
2017
The question I aimed to answer in creating this work was how negative and positive shape can interact to tell a compelling story. With this in mind, I used white triangular prisms in tandem with the space created by black pyramids to convey the effects of civilization on nature; specifically the growing issue of deforestation. In Destabilization in Nature, I wanted to emphasize the contrast between nature in its most organic form and as something extremely manicured, shaped by humans to fit the needs of civilization.
Rudy's Rude Awakening
Form and Space
2017
Once upon a time, Down in the deep blue, a legend was born … Rudy the blowfish. It was Rudy’s big day, dressed to the nines Rudy slips into his silky black one piece. Then enters the love of his life, Gretchen. Gretchen comes to help Rudy adjust the straps of his one piece, and he says "The only day that could make my day better, is you being here." Gretchen replies "I didn't know you would be getting ready so early, this fine Devine evening." Rudy breaks out in a cold sweat, realizing his big mistake. He now is faced with the ultimate decision, Gretchen or Jazz. "I never thought it would come to this" thought Rudy. He quickly conjured up an excuse "Oh baby, I forgot I have to go into firm today." As he leaves Gretchen notices Rudy grabbing his handmade pinstripe fedora and slinking it on his head. She immediately knows something's up. Rudy only wears his fedora to Jazz related events, and now she is concerned. For awhile now, Rudy has had a serious addiction to Jazz and the culture it brings, to the point of rehab, three times. Gretchen slowly lifts up the saxophone, creeps out the door, and beats rudy senseless. With his last puff Rudy "I've been saxed." The end.

This is documentation for a poetry exercise. The students participated in a series of word games while recording their actions. These segments were later interwoven with a series of questions to be answered in one or two words. The questions were intended to run the full gambit of being lighthearted to personally serious. The language was to be presented as a 50’s beatnik slam poem while footage of different environments played onto and behind the poet, and Justin Bieber’s hit song "U Smile” slowed down by 800 % rings out.

ART IS DEAD
Creative Thinking
2017
An important mission that I have for teaching is for the group of students to become more than a class, but a group of artists who want to work together equally. When this particular class discovered that they would be separated the following semester and required to mix into other groups they decided to protest. They all arrived at 7:15 am (to assure their arrival before me) wearing all black, reciting sad poetry, listening to Elliot Smith, and holding an eulogy for the class. The protest continued onto the University bus, main campus, and later during a visiting artist lecture.
